Time is valuable, and people have realized to use it more efficiently. With the increasing dependence on digital technology many interactions had been moved online including cooked meals delivered home.

According to neuroscience researchers “People focus on one thing while ignoring other things.” Studies show that when our brain is constantly switching gears to bounce back and forth between tasks – especially when those tasks are complex and require our active attention – we become less efficient and more likely to make a mistake.

Not all of the food delivery applications gives a second chance or options after making the mistake.

User Interview Findings

I interviewed 5 people who often ordered food online. I learned that they were struggling with the idea of ordering wrong or canceling the order and going through the order journey all over again in case they make any mistakes. The were also uncomfortable in reaching out to the the customer service and explaining their issues repetitively. They wanted the faster second chance to order their food in case they make any mistakes.

Solution

Keeping the research and Jose’s pain points in mind. I decided to introduce a toggle feature in the Doordash application

I conducted user testing after making a prototype and made changes in the design.

As I was not redesigning and adding a feature I decided to keep all the designs and features same as Doordash.

What I can do differently?

  • I would like to add some more features that concentrates on the doordash drivers as well but in the customer facing app.

  • I would like to interview only drivers and know their part of story and how customer reviews affect their jobs.
